Residents of Kantanga slums in Kampala spent more than a month without regular clean water supply during this quarantine period where they need to wash and sanitize their hands with clean water every after 20 minutes with a jerrycan of 20 litres costing between UGX 600-UGX 1000 after one of the water pumps broke down .The city council said they need about UGX 6,000,000 to replace the damaged machines. Katanga Local council chairman , says that the city council has had 2 water pumps meeting the needs of about 30,000 households who depend on the water from the water pumps but a recent power upsurge left one of the water pumps non functional. We are trying to look for funds to the tune $1500 (UGX 5,655,000)(Exchange rate from BOU, $1=UGX 3770) to have the second pump repaired . we currently have a water shortage problem which poses a high risk among the community members to catch and spread of COVID-19 among with residents resorting to unsafe water sources due to the congestion at the boreholes that are located in Katanga slum.We a bigger plan to secure a bigger water pump to meet the demands of the increasing population and need for clean water usage during this time of the year. We have hope that the water crisis that has hit the slum areas of Kantaga will soon be resolved with donor funding and other financial backers to the community from catching the deadly spread of Corona Virus among the slum community.
According to some of the slum dwellers the water shortage is making life difficult for the business community and households as many have to struggle to a jerrycan clean water from the few boreholes and existing unsafe natural stream that community member contaminate with garbage and human waste dumping.
We shall use some of the fund to procure nose masks, sanitizers and inspection gloves.

My Name is GHANSIWIYI BORIS NYUYSE a 25 year old Cameroonian. i am a graduate with a bachelors degree in Banking and Finance. Truth is, that really don’t mean much in my country. volunteered in 3 different Micro Finances for 2 years with the hope of getting employed to no avail. its relatively easy to get employed there first than in a bank. so i decided to learn and practice how to trade stocks online (iq options). been doing that for more than a year now using a demo account and have been successful so far.i want to start trading with real money but i do not have the capital to start with. my parents would have helped me raised the capital but the civil war in my country has caused us to abandon our home and seek settlement in a less hostile town.working class citizens were being captured, tutored and heavy ransoms paid before they could be released. so we had to flee.Donating the little you can will enable me put food on our table and afford clean water. your contributions will mean a great deal to me,my parents and my siblings. feel free to get in touch with me so that i can explain my trading strategies.

What Is Hemophilia?

Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder in which a person lacks or has low levels of certain proteins called “clotting factors” and the blood doesn’t clot properly as a result. This leads to excessive bleeding. There are 13 types of clotting factors, and these work with platelets to help the blood clot. Platelets are small blood cells that form in your bone marrow. According to the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), about one in 10,000 people are born with this disease.

People with hemophilia bleed easily, and the blood takes a longer time to clot. People with hemophilia can experience spontaneous or internal bleeding and often have painful, swollen joints due to bleeding into the joints. This rare but serious condition can have life-threatening complications.

The three forms of hemophilia are hemophilia A, B, and C.

Hemophilia A is the most common type of hemophilia, and it’s caused by a deficiency in factor VIII. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)Trusted Source, eight out of 10 people with hemophilia have hemophilia A.

Hemophilia B, which is also called Christmas disease, is caused by a deficiency of factor IX.

Hemophilia C is a mild form of the disease that’s caused by a deficiency of factor XI. People with this rare type of hemophilia often don’t experience spontaneous bleeding. Hemorrhaging typically occurs after trauma or surgery.

Hemophilia is an inherited genetic condition. This condition isn’t curable, but it can be treated to minimize symptoms and prevent future health complications.

In extremely rare cases, hemophilia can develop after birth. This is called “acquired hemophilia.” This is the case in people whose immune system forms antibodies that attack factors VIII or IX

Description: Nyasha is a vibrant youth that envisions a healthy, educated society with sustainable livelihoods and her mission is to improve quality of life of vulnerable people through the provision of health needs, education needs and livelihood skills in Zimbabwe.

Context analysis:

In sub-Saharan Africa, hemophilia remains a huge problem mainly because of ignorance of the disease, limited screening capabilities and access to treatment. The difficulties of managing congenital bleeding disorders are mostly due to their familial nature, high morbidity, significant physiological and psycho-social complications.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the problem remains huge mainly because of ignorance of the disease, limited screening capabilities and poor access to treatment. In Zimbabwe there is no national data on hemophilia and according to Zimbabwe Hemophilia Association, 500 people are estimated to be living with the condition and only 143 are registered in their data base. There are only 2 hospitals in Zimbabwe, that is Parirenyatwa in Harare and Mpilo in Bulawayo with hemophilia clinics in Zimbabwe. These monthly clinics facilitates diagnosis, registration, and long-term management of hemophilia. In mid-1993, there were 190 registered hemophilia cases in Zimbabwe. During 1991-1993, only 70 patients were seen more than once in the clinic. The National Blood Transfusion Service (NTSB) supplies blood products for hemophiliacs. Solvent-detergent treated Factor VIII and IX (FVIII and FIX, respectively) concentrates are imported from South Africa. They are the most common blood products used in Harare.Five NTSB branches also distribute blood products. Blood products are expensive. Most hemophiliacs are not covered by any social welfare program.

Tests for Hemophilia cost at least $200 and are carried out in South Africa as there are no equipped laboratories locally to carry out the procedure. A few tests can be done in Zimbabwe but 75 percent of them are done in South Africa. Patients only get blood samples in local laboratories and these are sent to South Africa.

Problem statement

Lack of knowledge of the disease, limited screening capabilities and poor access to treatment are major challenges affecting effective management of hemophilia in Zimbabwe

The goal and Objectives of the Project

The overall goal of the project is:

To improve access to treatment of hemophilia in Zimbabwe

 Specific objectives:

Field Monitoring visits – Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (MER) will conduct field monitoring visits within communities and stakeholders to validate on reported activities and expected results, and to use observation to inform reporting and feedback.

Progress review meetings – these will be done every quarter for the purposes of reviewing progress against set targets (basing on set progress markers), SWOT and PESTLE analysis, discussing lessons learnt and best practices, as well as mapping way forward to improve programming in line with set objectives.
