Time's Up

Even though the Okavango Delta is one of the most beautiful tourist attraction places in the world, and listed as a World Heritage Site, buried deep in this site is a story of indigenous peoples battling the disappearance of their identity and cultural heritage as tourism and discriminatory policies continue to push them out of their traditional territories.

This money will be used to survey the //Anikhwe (San) territory in upper Okavango and prepare an Environmental Management Plan for a formal recognition and allocation of the territory. More information on the state of indigenous peoples in the Okavango Delta is available in this book, written by four San human rights activists: http://www.ipacc.org.za/images/reports/new/Botswana.pdf
